Political Social Grab Bag

What am I thinking about?

Say good bye to what is sometimes called CopyPasta– giving folks content to just copy and paste and Tweet. Twitter has announced new ways they will be limited reach of such content.

Before you panic “OMG but my social toolkits!)…breathe, Toolkits aren’t dead, they just need to be reconfigured.

It’s time to revisit a tool I’ve been talking about and loving for a few years Speechifai (and good news! if you use the code BethB222 at check out you can get a 30% discount on any subscription level- I on the other hand did not get paid to share that). By creating a bunch of mix and match texts/images/hashtags that also allow people to add their own words you are avoiding CopyPasta while still giving your supporters a way to spread the word.

Google. Meta and others will have to explain their algorithms under new EU legislation– If you’re not paying attention to this, start paying attention. Given the US Congress’ lack of any action w/regard to the platforms, the platforms will be more responsive to what’s being legislated in the EU and it will affect us outside of the EU as well

Evaluating Elon Musk’s Plan to Fix Twitter – I’m not going to spend a lot of space covering Musk/Twitter but I found this article relevant to keep in mind in planning future strategy and what might happen if the sale actually gets finalized

We (skim)read Meta’s metaverse manifesto so you don’t have to – If you’re only gonna read one thing about the coming to a world near you soon metaverse this is a good one to read

Facebook

This doesn’t affect how we set up our ads but it’s important to know what data Facebook is making available to researchers

Lots of talk lately about the anticipated move away from an algorithm to the use of a new “discovery engine”- still a lot we don’t know about how this will affect content delivery and optimization but this is a good primer in the subject

I’m sort of surprised by this but tbh they also never really put a lot of resources into making it work- podcasts on FB are going away this week
